Good Morning Everyone!
Bernie had me up and trudging up the hills and through the snow bright and early. Good thing I was moving at a good clip, it was one of those mornings that was 2 degrees but felt like -10. A morning that you hope to God you don't sweat, but manage to generate the perfect amount of heat to stay warm. I accomplished the perfect balance until Bernie happened upon a squirrel and spent the better part of 20 minutes barking his head off and digging to China trying to extricate it from beneath a log. I waited patiently and began to feel the error of my ways when that feeling of chill started to settle in. There was no way he was leaving on his own free will. I had to trailblaze through thigh deep snow to retrieve, leash, and drag him away from his prey. To add insult to injury, he circled back around the second I stupidly removed his leash. Yup, I had to go all the way back, only sink up to my shins this time, and drag him home. He wasn't happy....the squirrel most certainly has PTSD. All this excitement before 7:00 a.m. I am a lucky girl lol.
Hoping everyone has dug themselves out from the beautiful snowstorm, I've been waiting all winter for this!! Yes, I could definitely do without these frigid temperatures, 35 and sunny would be wonderful, but I am very happy to have snow on the ground. I made sure there was a nice clear path to the shop so UPS could deliver all of the packages of goodies I've ordered. My order from Blue Sky Fibers FINALLY ARRIVED LAST NIGHT!!! I am also scheduled to receive my order, today, from DellaQ, the Oh Snap project bags AND GORGEOUS new project bags from Emma Ball. I also took the liberty of ordering coordinating notion tins and stitch markers to match the new Emma Ball bags. The fabric she used is by a designer named Janie Crow, OMG, they aren't cute, they are beautiful, I can't wait for you to see everything.
I hope you've had the opportunity to swatch for the Elise Pullover, the KAL is starting this Saturday, February 22nd 9-11:00. The pattern calls for a #5, my yarn says #6, I started with a #7, got gauge first try. I am very excited to start a new project, I'm currently working on sleeve #1 of my Clay Cardigan. I slipped it on before starting the sleeves, it's a fluffy cloud, I LOVE IT. Addie calls it my Lifesaver sweater, the beads add such an interesting detail. It reminds me of the candy necklaces I used to get at Marlow's when I was a kid. The type you could bite off a piece of while wearing it, thus creating a gross sticky mess on that elastic string, the memories..... I am hoping to have it completed before Saturday, fingers crossed.
My knitter logic indicates that with the completion of one sweater, I need to be starting at least two, sound familiar? The strategy provokes a bit of thought, of course. It goes something like this, the Elise pullover has a lace yoke which isn't exactly mindless knitting. So in selecting the second sweater, it would make sense to have something that is mindless at the beginning, like Jennifer Steingass' Forest Light (MY ORANGE YARN!!). So while I'm concentrating on the lace yoke, I can easily crank out the top of the other sweater which has the color work around the bodice. But truth be told, it wouldn't hurt to have an entire sweater that is completely mindless and will work up quickly, I have 2 colorways of Artesia that have been waiting patiently for me and several patterns that I could use. It's a wonder I can sleep at night with all of these ideas bombarding me. I also have (3) skeins of Cloud that would work up into a beautiful Malou (Berroco pattern that uses Wizard). Now I've worked myself into a frenzy....this is my world, SQUIRREL!!!
We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30, for Stitch and Bitch I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day, stay warm, see you soon!!
