Good Morning Everyone!
I have so much to say today, but I must start with, "I'M WEARING MY ELISE PULLOVER AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!!!" It fits me perfectly, I love the modifications I did, and the yarn is simply beautiful. I used Madelinetosh Wool + Cotton in Copper Pink, the drape and stitch definition are exactly on point. The lace yoke absolutely came to life after blocking, such a lovely detail. Makayla had suggested doing the I cord bind off in lieu of the bottom ribbing to match the neckline and cuffs, BRILLIANT (nope, it didn't roll)!! It looks stunning, I am absolutely in love with this sweater. Of course I did my 3/4 length, signature sleeves. Karen wore hers on Saturday to KAL, Kristen sent me a picture of hers, and several of you were on sleeve island. I forgot to send Kirsten a Zoom invite to join us, she said she would love to Zoom in during our next KAL April 19th. No pressure, but if you have yours finished, PLEASE WEAR IT!
The next big announcement shouldn't come as any surprise, but JULIE ASSELIN WILL BE HERE TOMORROW EVENING DURING STITCH AND BITCH!!! I honestly don't have a clue what she has in mind, I know she's bringing lots of yarn, YAY! Lucinda may also catch a ride down with her, it's going to be a lot of fun for sure. Please wear/bring your Morning Rituals sweater, I would love to get a picture of us. According to the forecast, it should be the perfect temperature to wear these cozy sweaters. I'll turn the heat down in the shop so we don't sweat to death.
I recently took on the enormous task of organizing my yarn stash. It's still not finished, but I feel like the worst of it is over. I have sorted everything out by weight, but I'm searching for baskets to put on the shelves. Carla found plastic storage bins, I may end up going that route. I was looking for something cuter, I'm not a huge fan of plastic, but I haven't had much luck. Speaking of luck, wouldn't you know, Laine magazine is publishing a brand new book titled, 52 Weeks of Scrap Yarn. I immediately ordered it, I now have not only my sweater quantities organized (in project bag with pattern), I also have every single leftover ball of yarn that I didn't know what to do with. Their publications are GORGEOUS! Granted, the shipping is half the cost of the book, but I did my girl math, and when you figure individual patterns are easily $9 each, this is a bargain lol...plus the pictures are really pretty. So I felt the universe was offering me a reward for my hard work, ANOTHER NEW BOOK FULL OF IDEAS!!!
Local Yarn Shop day is just one month away! I have ordered special bags from DellaQ, they are the large Oh Snap bags with an adorable LYS day design. I have enameled pins coming from The National Needle Arts commemorating this annual event. There will be several free patterns available with yarn purchase from my vendors, I'm sure Carrie has a trick or two up her sleeve. I really hope that you will stop by and help me celebrate the joy of owning a yarn shop and having each of you a part of my wonderful community. Mark your calendars, it's Saturday, April 26th ALL DAY LONG!!
I've been working with Berroco's new yarn, Iris, it is gorgeous. I wasn't sure how well received it would be, so I didn't jump in head first, I ordered sweater quantity for myself to test the waters. Wouldn't you know, it was the most popular new yarn offered and completely sold out. I am using mine to knit Norah Gaughan's Niche, my gauge is spot on. It will be back in stock in a couple of weeks, if you would like to jump on this bandwagon, you won't be disappointed, this yarn is nothing short of luxurious. I have made great progress on my sweater and will be happy to show you how lovely it knits up. Once again, it is a wonderful, transitional sweater, one that can be worn nearly year round and especially during those months that require a lighter sweater.
Please help me give Julie a big, warm welcome tomorrow evening, 6-7:30 for her fantastic Trunk Show during Stitch and Bitch. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
Katy
