Good Morning Everyone!
I'm happy to report I finished knitting my Zeen Top, it's been rolled up in a towel since yesterday waiting for me to gently block it into shape which will happen shortly after I finish this. I was hoping to wear it for Stitch and Bitch, but I'm not sure it will dry in time with all of this humidity, and let's face it, it's supposed to be a balmy 90 degrees tomorrow which is way too hot for merino and silk. Mine sort of resembles the picture, I did take a few creative licenses, actually it looks nothing like the picture, except for maybe the neckline. Oh well, it fits me and the YO, slip one, K2tog, YO, Knit 3 ribbing, which was only supposed to be for 8 rows, embellishes the bottom 8" of my sweater, go figure. The pattern didn't give the finished measurements, I couldn't tell how long it was supposed to be so I kept measuring it against my Edie top, need I say more?
It does feel good to have another project off the needles, but I'm still feeling outnumbered by my organized piles of yarn patiently waiting to be next. I picked up my Shieffelin again, I'm really enjoying mosaic knitting, it didn't take long to get the hang of it either. I'm on row 52 of 74 in the chart and in the zone, lol...It was an excercise of retraining my mind, I was so used to changing colors when reading a chart, I couldn't get my mind around what I was looking at. Despite telling myself that each row only used 1 color, I really wanted to carry the CC along. So 52 rows later, I think I got it. I hope to have the yoke finished before Stitch and Bitch so I can do some mindless knitting. I'm excited to see everyone's progress this Saturday for KAL, it looks like the weather is going to be perfect, 75 degrees, my favorite summertime temperature!
I posted a video last week showing you my first shipment of Fall/Winter '21 yarns from Berroco. Topaz is GORGEOUS, Carrie is working on the Dunya which is a mosaic pattern using 1 skein of Topaz (alpaca/wool/nylon) and 1 skein of Aerial (silk/mohair) which produces a unique brick pattern, I'm so excited to see her progress. I also special ordered (2) bags of Lucca for 2 very lucky friends to knit luxurious sweaters with. There were (3) skeins left over, enough for me to knit a couple pieces from the Penthia set. I'll be casting on the mitts and cowl, they feature a reversible knit/purl texture, which would make the perfect gift! Christmas Eve is exactly 4 months from today, YUP I said it again. So if you're looking for that special gift either knit up or as a kit, look no further, I've got lots of ideas for you! I will let you know when my HUGE box from Malabrigo arrives, it should be here this week, more Rios, Rasta, Silky Merino and Pattern Books. I'll post a video while I unpack the box so you can get a sneak peek at the goodies.
We will be meeting tomorrow evening from 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. I'll also let you know, that next week's Stitch and Bitch is going to be EXTRA AMAZING and will be from 5:30-7:30, you won't want to miss what I have up my sleeve. The week of September 6-13th, I will be in Colorado at the Salida Fiber Festival, we won't be having Stitch and Bitch. Make it a great day and I hope to see you soon!
