Good Morning Everyone!
I'm going to keep this short and sweet, just like me. Or is that short and salty??? Short either way...I hope you were all able to finish your holiday knitting without too much anxiety, I find a little Bailey's in the coffee helps. It's what's in my mug presently, and it has nothing to do with anxiety lol. I finished knitting my Bergman Sweater, she's almost dry, what a beauty! I have already cast on the Clay Cardigan, it is so much fun to knit with beads (almost as much fun as mohair). I can't wait for you to see how lovely it is. Carrie created the most wonderful Advent Calendar for me, the Clay Cardigan was only part of the gift. I am so lucky to have her for a friend and each day has been a reminder of how special our friendship is. Carrie, thank-you for all that you do for me, there are no words to accurately describe how much you mean to me. I love how much fun we have doing our videos and the energy and creativity you bring to the shop.
Speaking of friendship, I must share a story with you, another one...A few years ago one of the KALs was Il Grande Favorito. We used Berroco's Ultra Wool and Artesia to knit these cozy, snuggly pullovers. It is by far one of my favorite "go to" sweaters when I just need to feel some soft warmness. Of course, Artesia was discontinued, WTF???? UGH!!!! Imagine my delight when we discovered a nice stash of it at Hermit Thrush Fiber Co while on the yarn haul a few years ago. We managed to clean them out of their inventory, I scored two more skeins to knit another sweater!! We're all familiar with having a yarn stash, so no one will be surprised to hear that I had mine stored in one of the drawers in the shop. Enter Mary..."Hey Katy, what is this you have stashed away?" OMG she found my squishy yarn..."Oh it's nothing" (stop touching it). This little dialogue went on for awhile, she wanted the yarn. Seriously, how many times can she ask if I'm really going to knit it up? At least a gazillion...One day it went home with her, I felt really good about the decision. I felt even better when she sashayed into the shop wearing her newly knit sweater. It gets better, are you hanging on the edge of your seat???
Last night, Carla invited Carrie, Mary and myself over for pizza and a little knitting. There were gifts exchanged and tons of laughter of course. The last present I opened was from Mary, I could not believe what was inside the box. TWO SKEINS OF ARTESIA!!! The exact same color. I just about died, it was like being reunited with an old friend. Needless to say, I will feel nothing but love and friendship each time I wear that sweater. It will have a story to tell, one that I will always share. Mary, you are a gem, I'm so glad that you came into my shop and quickly became a friend. Carla...you are the epitome of blessing. The holidays have been difficult for me since my grandparents and Mom have passed away, a big thank-you to each and every one of you who bring something unique into my life. My business introduced us, our friendship keeps us together. I love what we have created together, the sweaters, hats, mittens, shawls, scarves and most important, the community.
I wish each and everyone of you a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, & Happy Holidays!!
Happy Knitting & Crocheting!!
XOXO
Katy
