Good Morning Everyone!
A week ago it was dumping snow, this week, the daffodils are in full bloom. I love spring time in Vermont! Where else can you dress in as many layers as an onion only to peel them away as the day goes by? My plans to sit in on my porch in the sun, listening to my book and knit were destroyed by gray clouds yesterday. I was banished to my livingroom where I decided to watch Netflix (Good Girls) and mindlessly knit the FRONT of my Marsh sweater, THE FRONT!!!! I'm excited that the back is finished, of course there was a bit of drama just so I could go out with a bang, I'd expect no less....
Addie and I were watching Downton Abbey and I'm nearing the very top of that blasted chart full of YO, CDD, YO, K1, YO, CDD, YO when I look at my beautiful lace and it's off, way out in outer space off. Like every seasoned knitter, I start running through my mind, am I the only one who will notice? Doesn't it look better this way? It's my own original design. No one's will be like mine. Or as Leslie said on Saturday during KAL, "Your signature" DaNile is an awfully long river in the mind of a knitter who refuses to use lifelines. There was an entire conversation addressing that during KAL too, but I'm not sure I remember at all how that one went lol...Addie sensed my angst and asked, "Mom, what's wrong?" If you know me, the response wasn't pleasant and was full of F words. When I was finished, she calmly said, "You have to fix it, it will drive you crazy if you don't. You've made it this far, it's so pretty, why would you want to leave it like that?" Hard to argue with that kind of logic, especially since she's completely reknitting her Harry Styles cardigan. We pulled the entire thing out, she reconfigured the size of the squares and is following the pattern loosely (sounds familiar). I painstakingly tinked back 4 rows, thankfully it was very obvious where the mistake was, and successfully reknit the row along with the rest of the chart, PHEW!!! As Andra commented on my Facebook post, "You Win" I've procrastinknitted long enough, the Fleurine is in my face saying, get those bobbins wound. Thankfully, there are a few brave souls that are going to knit it along with me. Surprisingly, there are several of you knitting the Marsh, despite my serious issues. And please, don't bother telling me you have no idea why I had such a problem with it...
If you don't know already, Local Yarn Store Day is this Saturday, April 30th!!!! I'm so excited and encourage you to mark your calendar and plan on coming by. Many of the companies I partner with are showing their full support for this day and I'll have some great goody bags full of surprises for you. Carrie has graciously created some lovely ads I'll be posting on Instagram and Facebook to give you an idea of what's in store. A gentle reminder, if you aren't following me on Instagram or Facebook, please do, it really helps my shop get promoted for FREE and lets your friends know all about me. Also, if you already follow me, PLEASE SHARE MY POSTS!!! It's also worth noting that I'll be closing up a little early this Friday (10-3:00) so I can attend a macrame workshop at Two Sisters Mercantile in Jeffersonville. I will be making a beautiful slingback chair, I can't wait to show it to you!! I just realized that I will be participating in a craft that intentionally uses knots, OMG!! As a knitter this is rather counterintuitive, I'm used to avoiding knots at all costs, knots are the enemy, the bane of my existence...I guess it will be a lesson in acceptance.
We will be meeting tomorrow evening from 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. If UPS cooperates, I'll have a big box of goodies from Cocoknits to open up during S&B, so you'll definitely want to be around for that. Their Maker's Boards were finally back in stock, I can't wait to get mine!!!
Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
Katy
