Good Morning Everyone!
I couldn't wait to show you my finished Alpine Bloom sweater and hat. What truly amazes me is how different the Spincycle yarn looks against light (The Exotic by Woolerton Estates) and dark (La Bien Aimee mohair and Koigu merino) backgrounds. I was so excited when I had an entire skein of Spincycle leftover from my sweater. I'd already purchased the hat pattern, the challenge was picking out a background color (great stash buster). The decision was pretty much made for me with the discovery of navy blue mohair, I'm obsessed. What I didn't anticipate is how much difference it would demonstrate by simply changing the background color. I think it's something we generally know, but to be able to see it, WOW!! Reminds me of the shop samples I knit using Carousel and Aerial. The Tyanna Cowl knit with just Carousel and then my Avalon Sweater, same color as the cowl but with mohair.
A few of you have seen my sweater and commented on the yarn I used. I have some great news and less than great news to share with you. The great news is, I am hosting a TRUNK SHOW SATURDAY, APRIL 6TH featuring Woolerton Estates Fibers. I was introduced to their beautiful yarn while visiting Lucinda at Mont Tricot. I'm not sure exactly how this is all going to play out, I'm working on the details with Zoey and will let you know. In the meantime, I'm going to assign you a little homework, checkout the website and tell me what you're interested in. I've talked to her about The Exotic, The Fluff, and The Engineer DK, but I'm open to suggestion. Stay tuned and I'll be filling you in with the details as soon as they're available. Here's her website https://www.woolertonyarns.com/ The less than great news is I'm on a waiting list to become a stockist for Spincycle Yarns, ugh....I did mention that according to their website they do not currently have a shop in our beautiful state that sells it and I would love to fix this problem for them...
I posted a picture of my Wisdom of the Moon shawl yesterday, it received a lot of attention and love, THANK-YOU!!! I'm super excited to tell you, I FINISHED THE CHART!! I am so happy to be finished doing color work, especially on the purl side, it's so easy to get your yarn in a twisted mess. I did figure out if I had the colors on opposite sides of myself it was a little easier to manage. If you're experiencing the same issue, give it a try. I will say this, pictures don't do it justice at all, I can't get over just how beautiful the shawl is. I've been enjoying seeing everyone's color choices come to life, they are all so different. We are 7 weeks out from the Eclipse, there is still plenty of time to get one cast on. The KAL gals are meeting this Saturday, February 24th 9-11:00, I can't wait to show you my shawl and see everyone else's. If you want to join in, it's not too late! I did get some adorable new notions in last Friday, stop by to see what's new (hint bumblebee & sheep stitch markers, so cute). We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30, for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. And fun it has been, and extremely well attended!! I do have 4 folding chairs and the rocking chair available. Please bring a chair if you're able to. I have been known to steal chairs from my kitchen and will happily do so if needed. All cars must park in the street, there aren't any available spots in the driveway in the evenings. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
Katy
P.S. Hi Andra!
