Holiday Cheer...

Good Morning Everyone!

I know this time of the year can be extremely stressful and busy. I still don't have a Christmas tree and there are dead mums on my porch. I did manage to decorate my dining room and parlor, it looks festive but I am behind the eight ball. I do think the goal for today is to dispose of the dead mums, they are beginning to mock me. I did get an extremely healthy dose of holiday cheer last night at Carla's for Knitter's Anonymous. Her house is like a Christmas explosion, you could film a holiday Hallmark movie. We had a fantastic time, the food was amazing and the Yankee Swap was the most civilized one I've ever experienced. Despite the weather being a bit uncooperative, we all made our way there and had an evening full of knitting and laughter. There is a private Facebook page that Carrie has created, if you would like to be included, please let me know.

I received the kindest email yesterday from a designer name Kirsten Ascanius. I fell in love with her Kate Pullover https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/kate-pullover and decided I just had to have it. The power of Social media still baffles me, she began following me after I'd tagged her in the video I posted wearing the sweater. I follow her on Instagram and saw she'd published a new pattern called the Elise Pullover. Of course I looked to see the yarn requirements and was going to purchase it because I need another sweater to knit lol...She reached out to me thanking me again for sharing her first pattern and asked if I'd consider making a sample of her latest design to feature in my shop. She attached the pattern which I thought was extremely sweet of her to do. I would love to show her some support, here is the link to the pattern https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/elise-pullover I thought we could consider knitting it for our next KAL. It could be a great opportunity to introduce a new DK weight yarn to the shop. I haven't looked at Madeline Tosh yet, but I know Malabrigo has a few lovely DK weights too. The pattern needs a yarn that is soft and drapey, I'm thinking a silk blend would be perfect. The timing to pick out a new yarn is serendipitous, Andra will be here next Wednesday to show me all the beautiful new yarns for Spring/Summer 2025, crazy, I know. The best part is, she's staying for Stitch and Bitch and YOU'LL GET TO SEE THE NEW YARNS TOO!! Mark your calendar, it's Wednesday December 18th 6-7:30. I'm quite certain she may have some suggestions for us...

I've been cruising along on my Bergman sweater, it is gorgeous! I am so pleased with the yarn, I can't wait for you all to see my progress. I used a combination of Berroco's Spree and Aerial as my contrast color and Blue Sky Fiber's Printed Organic Cotton for the Main Color, OMG, it's exactly what I was hoping for. The cotton has subtle tones of sage green, it's stunning and SO SOFT!! I was working on it last night and couldn't help but stop and enjoy how wonderful it felt. I wouldn't have normally thought to use cotton for a winter sweater, but when I saw the pattern and the yarn requirements, I looked around the shop and found exactly what I needed to pair with it, KISMET! Truth be told, I had been looking for an excuse to use that lovely green Spree yarn for awhile, it takes on another personality when worked with mohair. It's exciting to think outside the box and put yarns together that you normally wouldn't consider.

We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!

Katy
