Good Morning Everyone!
It's officially Fall, my favorite time of the year. So far, Mother Nature hasn't disappointed me, the switch has been flipped and we're shifting into those cooler days. I don't like that the days are getting shorter, Bernie hasn't figured out that we can't go to Hard'ack at 5:30 a.m. it's still dark and I'm a big chicken. Also worth mentioning, it's skunk season, so waiting until it's light out isn't a horrible idea either. Bernie's brother was sprayed last week, thankfully, we were 10 minutes late meeting them and missed the actual event, but definitely smelled the residuals.
As the leaves transition to their gorgeous colors, I anxiously begin to switch my sweaters from tanks and t-shirts to my beloved Zweig, Sipila, & Breathing Space sweaters that are just perfect for this time of year. I wore my Schieffelin yesterday, it kept the chill away during the tour Addie and I took of UVM. I can't believe she's going off to college next year, she was 7 years old when I opened my shop, where did the time go? I will say this, I barely recognized the campus, so much has changed since my days there. The progress is amazing and it proves that careful and mindful planning can certainly accomplish merging old, beautiful architecture with modern in a way that is seamless and complimentary. It's still a beautiful campus and was buzzing with the energy of youth, I felt old lol.
I've been knitting away on my Forestland sweater, I'm more than halfway through the colorwork on the yoke. I still can't get over how much I love Knittin'Bro dk, it has an incredible sheen and the twist doesn't make it feel like wool at all. Once I get past dividing the front and the back, I'm going to cast on Isabell Kraemer's Emsworth vest. Like most of her designs, it has an interesting construction which is something I enjoy about her patterns. I started to read the directions, it's going to be fun and something I'll likely screw up. I'm sure someone will remind me that I said it would be fun as I'm pulling my hair out. Because I'm a glutton for punishment, I decided that I also had to have her latest cardigan pattern Beaufort 5. What prompted this? Well, I just received a box full of Vivian Acres dk in natural. I've been dying to knit with this beautiful Vermont produced yarn for awhile, inspiration hit me between the eyes. This yarn will highlight the lovely stitch pattern that embellishes this cardigan, OMG I can't wait! I do realize that I have the Fern and Feather sweater, the Foxthoughts, and our next KAL, Marsali in queue and possibly a Sipila for Addie for Christmas, oye vey....
Many of you saw my Facebook post picturing the Thank-you card from Julie for those that have knit hats. I too can't thank-you enough for sharing your time and talent for such a worthy cause. I'm still collecting them and will reach out to her to see how many more are needed. Should I tell you that Christmas eve is in 87 days? If you have hats to drop off, please get them to me and I'll let Julie know we've got more for her.
We will be meeting tomorrow evening from 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch. Unfortunately it gets dark a little sooner than I'd like, so we'll be sitting either on the back deck or inside the shop, either way I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
