Good Morning Everyone!
I LOVE FALL! That chilly gust of wind got my full attention when I opened the door to let Bernie out at 5:30 this morning. The trade off is just how quiet it is so early in the day. The leaves were rustling around in the breeze and the stars were still bright between the clouds, the gentle reminder that SWEATER WEATHER IS HERE!!!! This change in the weather is the only invitation I need to get comfy in my chair and knit as fast as my fingers will allow to finish my next sweater, the Forestland. I had set a rather lofty challenge for myself, I wanted to not only have my Forestland completed before the next KAL began, but my Emsworth vest. What was I thinking? My ambition is only driven by the number of sweaters I have in queue patiently waiting to be cast on. To add insult to injury, I discovered that my favorite fingerless gloves are looking a bit ragged, the thumb is starting to unravel, it's likely time for a new pair, the life of a knitter...
The shop is becoming increasingly more full with all of the new yarn that has been arriving. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a box from Berroco that I'd been told wasn't coming until almost Thanksgiving! I received the backordered Snowflake in a lovely shade of blue, along with more Jawoll sock yarn, Lanas Quick, and the brand new Cloud by Lang. I can't believe that I've already placed another order for the Snowflake yarn, it should be here this week along with more bags of Lanas Quick. The next KAL begins this Saturday and I'm very excited that so many of you will be casting on the gorgeous Marsali cardigan. I loved it the minute I saw it at the trunk show Andra did the beginning of September. Clearly I wasn't alone, we determined that evening it would be our next KAL. Due to it's popularity, I've been selling out the colors I wanted to use for mine. Originally I had selected Poppy, then Coast, then Cracked Pepper, each time I had to relinquish it to someone who'd decided to join the KAL. Believe me, I'm not complaining, I'm anxious to see what color I actually end up with, thankfully I only order the most beautiful colors lol. There's still time to join in the fun, we'll be casting on this Saturday October 23rd at 9:00.
If you're still needing some inspiration, I have lots of new colors of Malabrigo in Rasta, Rios and Sock. I'm most excited about the big box that arrived from Pueblo, Colorado yesterday oooh, la, la Haute Boheme Fiber is in the house! The colors are AMAZING and the kits are beautiful, I can't wait for you to see what I have. I ordered hat and mitten kits along with a gorgeous shawl called the Northeasterly (appropriate for our Vermont winters). What I love most about the shawl kits, aside from the colors, is each one represents women in various fields, STEM, Art, World Leaders, and those who Influence.
I saw Julie on Friday, she picked up the rest of the hats destined for the Memory Care facility. Thank-you to each and every one of you who helped her reach her goal, she has all the hats she needs! We will be meeting tomorrow evening from 6-7:30 at the shop for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
