Good Morning Everyone!
I just did some math, 43 days until Christmas!!! And let's not forget that Thanksgiving is thrown into the middle of the mix with just 16 days to go. The holidays can certainly feel extremely overwhelming, even for the most organized and efficient (Carla). For the first time EVER, my dining room was decorated for Thanksgiving before Halloween. I use the term "decorated" loosely, but the Pilgrim candles and cornucopia that have adorned the table since my mom was a child, still remain part of the tradition. It's also worth mentioning, by October, the beautiful collection of hand painted Ukrainian eggs I use to decorate for Easter, needed to be put away. So, if you find yourself wanting something fun to help take away some of the stress, I think that a fantastic, fiber infused Advent Calendar is exactly what you need. If you have preordered yours, guess what?? IT'S READY!!! There are a few left, I will have them for sale in the shop starting this week. This truly is the perfect gift, 25 days of surprises or if you're Sue, about 5 minutes lol....
We gathered at Carla's last night for Knitter's Anonymous, I panicked when I saw all of her Christmas decorations, I thought I'd missed Thanksgiving, PHEW. I loved seeing how all of the Morning Ritual sweaters are coming along. Emma finished hers and modeled it for us, just lovely!! Carla has made her way to sleeve island, Paula and Martha were going round and round and I'm almost finished with the back. We've learned a lot from each other on this particular KAL, which really makes me feel good about the sense of community we have. I certainly find value learning from other's trials and tribulations, this isn't a difficult pattern, but the yarn has been challenging, no question. I've always believed it's the challenges that make you stronger, you learn nothing and appreciate very little if everything is easy. I know I will feel a huge sense of accomplishment upon completion of this sweater, mainly because it's been a different kind of challenge for me. I have never knit with Boucle, I've had to be laser focused on the mechanics of the stitch and quite vigilant. I've never had to pay so much attention to my needles before. Usually I can take my eyes off and feel the rhythm of the stitch as my needles go through. My prediction is my knitting will be much more proficient after so much mindful knitting, stay tuned....
If you're looking for some wonderful last minute gifts to either make or give, Carrie and I have been putting kits together. The latest is Andrea Mowy's The Traveler Cowl, we used Lang's Frida which lends itself perfectly to this pattern https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-traveler-cowl. We have kits for, hats, mittens, cowls, scarves and shawls, something for everyone. Additionally, I have adorable notions in stock, tons of stitch markers, scissors, tins, Maker's Boards, project bags etc...
We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
