Good Morning Everyone!
Not only did I finish my Big Love, she's blocked and almost dry!! Am I bragging? YUP, you bet I am. Not to be obnoxious, let's be clear, but more to acknowledge the feeling of accomplishment, it's worth not only getting excited, but to brag a bit. I wasn't too sure how I felt about knitting this sweater, I've made that perfectly clear. I felt even more trepidatious about dragging you all down the path to hell with me. It's one thing to bite off more than you can chew, but when there are other innocent people involved, the pressure not to choke is on. There were moments when I experienced a bit of shortness of breath, but thankfully panic never set in (thanks to Andra). If you remember, I didn't come out of the gates too strong, my lifeline to Andra was yanked a lot. I figured I needed to feel all the frustration and anxiety so that you wouldn't have to. I could just calmly guide you through this origami of a project with confidence. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it simply takes a village and I love my village.
So what's next on the needles? Eventually it will be Amy Christoffer's latest design Meissa, it's soooo pretty. But since it's officially Fall, I decided to finish my Linda K's Yummy Mummy Fingerless Mitts. I started them awhile back and put them down because I was stuck, no idea why, I've made them before. Talk about a blow to your ego...I didn't invest too much time beating myself up, clearly it wasn't their turn and the universe was telling me to keep knitting sweaters. Now, I'm feeling like I need to sneak them into the rotation, mostly because, I'm going to need them. We all know perspective is everything and when you don't got it, it screws with you. I can laugh now because I have no idea why I was having so much trouble with these mitts, probably didn't help the BOR marker was in the wrong place??? I tinked back a bit to reacquaint myself and VIOLA, we're back in business, confidence restored. Wait until you see how beautiful they are, this time I'm bragging lol. I'm obsessed with this silk mohair craze, for good reason, so I'm using Aerial Color and 100% organic wool from my stash. I have lots of gorgeous combinations ready to go home with you if you're looking for a fun project to do.
I'm really excited for Stitch and Bitch tomorrow night, mostly because I'll be wearing my Big Love AND to see everyone's progress, I've had the pleasure of working with a few of you, helping you over those hurdles and instilling confidence. Hindsight is 20/20 so always take advantage of mine, I did this KAL quickly so that I could be that beacon of light that keeps you off the rocks. My knowledge is there for you to use, not to compare to your own. I've been knitting a long time, there's a reason I can pick up stitches effortlessly and almost perfectly, I've ripped out tens of thousands of stitches over the years in order to be able to do it. Believe me, if you ask me my opinion, I'll give it to you, I'll tell you straight up it's worth taking out and doing again. My Mimi had an eagle eye and not much got past her, I thank her for passing that along to me. I still hear her say, "Anything worth doing is worth doing right." I've amended that a tad, to say, it's worth doing to the best of your ability. Nothing is perfect and I'm far from that, but I always try to do my best.
I spent all day yesterday tediously wrapping Advent Calendar gifts, OMG are they cute!!! I will let you know when they are available for pick up, Lauren is the only one who will be able to have hers this early, she's visiting from Virginia and will be joining us for Stitch and Bitch, YAY!!! I do have one more available if you did not pre-order, We will be gathering tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30, for Stitch and Bitch I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
